Entergy Safely Returns Indian Point Unit 2 to Service

Tuesday, April 21, 2008 -Buchanan, N.Y. — Entergy plant operators safely returned Indian Point Energy Center's Unit 2 to service at about 6 a.m. after operators manually shut down the reactor yesterday when the main turbine generator erroneously signaled that it had reduced speed. Operations and Maintenance teams replaced the faulty circuit.

Indian Point's Unit 2 is currently operating at 28 percent power and will continue power ascension until full power is achieved. Unit 3, which has been operating continuously for 356 days, is operating at full power.

Indian Point Energy Center, located in Buchanan, N.Y., is home to two nuclear reactors, Unit 2 and Unit 3, which generate 2140 megawatts for customers in New York City and Westchester County.
